revamping an old lamp?
I have this floor lamp that I want to give a makeover. It's about six feet tall and silver with picture frames coming off the pole. I just moved into an apartment and the theme of my living room is somewhat of a pub/cigar room type feel. I have a couple of billiards and bowling signs and will be adding more things slowly. I'm thinking of spray painting the lamp black but don't know what to do about the "frosted" plastic light bowl ("shade"). Is there some sort of technique to get a marbled glass look with heat resistant paint on plastic? Any other ideas are appreciate as well. And what kind of pictures should I put in the lamp? Personal or other tavern like ones? Thanks!
For the pictures I would take a few digital photos of common items found in a tavern. Like a close up shot of the space that three pool balls create when they are arranged to all be touching. Fill a mug with beer or soda and do a close up shot of the drink looking straight down into the mug. Use your imagination for the photo subjects. For the shade I would use Gallery Glass and create a stained glass look on the shade. Most taverns have stained glass shades that hang over the tables or pool tables. Google Gallery Glass and you will see the variety of patterns that you can do. You can buy the paints and supplies at most craft stores. Spray painting the lamp black sounds like a great idea by the way. Good Luck
