What size Bialetti Moka Express stovetop espresso maker do I need for personal use at home? Thinking 3-6. What sizes do others use and how have your experiences been? Thanks!
The link is the one I got. It's stainless steel instead of aluminum, so it's easier to clean. It's available in sizes down to 2 cups.
The size needed depends on your drinking habits. They are measured in espresso cups of 2oz each, so a 12-cup moka is 24oz (or 3-4 coffee cups).
I personally would never buy one rated under 4 cups.
I tried the Bialetti, but didn't like having to brew a waste batch every time I clean it properly (and it was harder to get it to seal). I love the ease of cleaning my Kontessa, and it makes delicious espresso.
Anyway, aluminum isn't considered healthy so I like the safety of steel. Plus, it looks beautiful.
