Bialetti Moka Express- Espresso/Coffee Maker...?
I recently bought a Bialetti (little man) stove top coffee maker- the instructions say not to use too finely ground coffee, but clearly on the box, it states, "espresso maker," and if I'm correct, espresso is a finely ground coffee.
I have a larger size version (probably enough for 2 cups of coffee), and would like to use it mainly for making coffee, but every once in a while I'd like an espresso or latte.. can I make espresso with the larger size Bialetti moka express, or should I follow the exact instructions and use a "not too finely ground coffee" ?
The Bialetti will make a good espresso. The coffee needs to finely ground but not like powder/dust. If you go to a store that grind coffee ask them to grind for a stove top or I recommend Lavazza pre ground beans-makes a great espresso.
I believe the reason they say to not use too finely ground coffee is that the water pressure will not be powerful enough to get through the coffee.
